String Assembly uses chamber music as a tool to work for social good.
We work to increase access to high level chamber music in our community and at large, and use our programming as a mirror for the vibrant diversity in our community. Debunking the myth that all quality western classical compositions are by “dead white men” is central to our mission. We also serve as leverage for organizations whose mission aligns with our values.
We recognize the inherent social value in artists getting paid, no matter the forum. We work to create paid opportunities for musicians, especially those historically excluded in classical music. We value performing in communities that traditionally lack access to high level performance.
String Assembly is a fiscally-sponsored affiliate of InterMusic SF, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to small-ensemble music in the San Francisco Bay Area.
